Russia Violates NATO Airspace. "We Are Below the Threshold of War"

"We are actually on the brink of war, meaning we are in a hybrid war," Tomasz Darmoliński, president of the Żelazny Foundation, said on the "Gość Wydarzeń" program, commenting on Friday's violations of NATO airspace by Russian fighter jets. The expert also pointed to a key problem in building a "drone wall" on the Alliance's eastern flank.
Russia violated NATO airspace several times on Friday. First, three Russian MIG-31 fighter jets intruded over Estonian territory, and later, two aircraft made low passes over the Petrobaltic platform in the Baltic Sea.
Tomasz Darmoliński , president of the board of the Żelazny Foundation, admitted in an interview with Grzegorz Kępka in the " Gość Wydarzeń " program that these incidents do not surprise him.
"Russian provocations are a natural element in our space and should be expected. We are actually below the threshold of war , meaning we are in a hybrid war , which means that such provocations will continue to occur," he commented.

At the same time, he stated that after the Russian drone strike on the night of September 9-10, we are witnessing a completely new chapter in military history. "Since World War II, this is the first time both Polish and allied fighter jets have fired weapons from Polish skies. So this is a completely new chapter in our history, " he emphasized.

The guest also emphasized that in this situation, the most important thing is to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic. "We have the appropriate tools to deal with Russia's provocation . This isn't the first time Russian fighter jets have violated our airspace, both ours and NATO's, so our pilots certainly know what to do," he pointed out.
"Practically impossible." Expert points out problem with building "drone wall"Tomasz Darmoliński also commented on the issue of the " drone wall " on NATO's eastern flank – a project currently being developed by EU institutions. He emphasized that the war in Ukraine and the introduction of a new type of unmanned systems have created an entirely new threat.
"Well, unfortunately, Russia is several steps ahead of us when it comes to issues related to drone capabilities. Both Ukraine and Russia are pursuing drone warfare, which means they are very advanced at this stage," he commented.
He noted that creating such a wall is complicated. "It's a major undertaking that will require a significant investment, not just in financial terms, but also in technological resources," he said.

According to the expert, the main problem is the lack of substantive support. "Looking at how the European Union and Poland have approached aspects of drone warfare, we have insufficient resources to build such a drone wall quickly and effectively without engaging Ukrainian partners. It's practically impossible," the expert explained.
Let us recall that the President of the European Commission , Ursula von der Leyen, recently stated in an interview with the British daily Financial Times that Ukraine will be the supplier of know-how and the funds allocated to this project will amount to EUR 6 billion .
